Any hidden variables ?

Can anyone explain, why the detonation of one 50-megaton bomb will not
ignite the atmosphere, whereas ten 5-megaton bombs detonating over the
same metropolis within a few minutes w i l l ignite the atmosphere ?

It seems that nobody could or would explain that rather simply stated
problem.

The reason for this may be at least as interesting as the problem in
purely physical terms.

Physicists as intellectual heroes ? Well, a-hem !
