Suppose a robot is invented that can swing a golf club faster and
better than any human. On a golf course at sea level on the equator
with no wind and a temperature of 90 degrees farenheit with minimal
humidity at 12 noon sun time on January 1, 2015 he swings his golf club
X miles an hour and hits a drive straight down the middle 200 yards.
Suppose he had swung his club at 2X miles an hour approxomately how far
would the ball go assuming it's a top quality regulaton golf ball from
the year 2005 and the club is a top quality regulation driver from the
year 2005?

And if that is not enough info to answer the question how much more do
you need? Might it be helpful if the excercise took place in a gigantic
building where is created a total vacuum instead?

Are you accounting for the curvature of the Earth, the elasticity of the

club and at high values of x, the non-Hook law effects of bending the
club? Would it help to move the experiment, robot, scientists, reporters
and spectators to the moon? For extreme values of x, need breaking of
the club be considered or relativistic effects? May I presume that
results for x >= 186,000 mph are not required or will you need that data
to show the experiment is too dangerous to do at those values?

Finally, is a person capable of a misspelling every other line, able to
intelligently use an expert analysis of a robotic golfer?

A back spinning golf ball experience lift which significantly enhances its
range. It is not clear to me what effect doubling the club speed will have on
the spin imparted to the ball.

In a vacuum if you double the initial speed of a projectile you quadruple
the range. But I am not sure that is relevant to doubling club speed.

a trivial high school problem in vacuum. figure it out yourself, google is
your friend.

You also have to assume gravity is constant over the expected range of
altitudes.

And if the ball is perfectly elastic (or the elasticity is independent of
how hard you hit it), doubling the swing velocity will double the ball's
initial velocity.
