I'd say it's a toss up between 1 and 2... but I'm leaning on
considering 2 to be worse, because it harms a specific person, rather
than just the persons who chose to deal with you. |

Mechanical Engineering is my trade... primarily product design.
1. Will get the product built, and create/maintain jobs. Affects
the "warranty account", so the product will terminate early,
assuming the competitors didn't do the same thing. Lowest risk.
2. Will get the product built and create/maintain jobs. Affects
the "legal account", unless either prior art prevails, or you are
able to be "functionally similar, but distinctly different".
Next lowest risk.
3. Will get the product built and create/maintain jobs. Affects
sales only if the competitor's products don't also adversely
affect society or the environment. Witness the tobacco industry
as a case in point. (Petroleum too, but the trend is not
entirely clear for all to see.)
4. Unless your company makes "sex toys", you will be fired.
Highest risk.
5. No net effect. I've seen all kinds of philosophies. Might
not get very far up the promotion ladder, unless you play golf
well. Having some form of personality helps.
