It's not light reading. However, it is very interesting.
You will see the most ancient magic rectangle and many other things. |

One of the first mistakes on this page is the following:
"There is no record of the 7-day week cycle ever having been broken.
Calendar changes and reform have never interrupted the 7-day cycles."
Not true.
The Soviets tried the "Eternal Calendar" from 1929 to 1940 which had 6
days in a week (named for five colors). The Discordian calendar has 5
days in the week ("Sweetmorn", "BoomTime", "Pungenday",
"Prickle-Prickle", "Setting Orange"). A 5-day week makes more sense
anyway, because
365 = 5 * 73. (The Discoridan calendar also has 5 seasons, with 73 days
each.)

In fact, for a large part of recorded history many people didn't use
seven day weeks -- in fact, most calendar systems didn't even have the
notion of "week", let alone a seven day week. This includes ancient
Roman, Greek, and Chinese calendars, at least (yes, later Roman
calendars for trelgion and the seved day week, but never mind).
