beginner seeking help with geometry
|
|
|
please excuse this if you've read it elsewhere recently;
i have put out feelers for help in other groups and, at least on this
particular request, have not turned up anything as yet, so i'm going
further afield with it;
i am a pensioner living in a remote community with no bookstores and a
library insufficient to my current needs;
i thought someone could help me find the following:
a beginners guide to geometry:
-freeware;
-easy to use (have downloaded winplot, cinderella -trial version for a
week, and a few other things) but i can't work out how to use them, and
they seem to have quite limited help notes)
-interactive, enabling learner to create and transform shapes in basic
plane geometry
-solid tutorial component (sthg comparable to xyzalgebra, where the
learner has a graded set of exercises to complete and some instant
feedback about where s/he is going wrong/right)
-good notes to study and help master the subject systematically
i know this is a lot to ask; and as i say, i have been unable to find
anything remotely fitting these specs;
just thought someone might have used sthg resembling them;
thx for any help

Hi, Rufi:
Perhaps if you started with a more specific request, it would
produce a greater response.
The mathematical subject of elementary plane geometry has
little to do with interactive software, even plotting "shapes in
basic plane geometry". The mathematical subject has to do
with developing proofs from first principles (axioms/postulates)
and nothing to do with programming.
Naturally there are newsgroups devoted to the subject of computer
graphics, and algorithmic topics in this area are quite interesting.
So if that is the focus of your question, it would be expeditious to
be clearer as to your aims.
