Definition
1 coulomb is the amount of electric charge carried by a current of 1
ampere flowing for 1 second.
It can also be defined in terms of capacitance and voltage, where one
coulomb is defined as one farad of capacitance times one volt of
electric potential difference:
[edit]
Explanation
The coulomb is also the unit of electric flux. (See Gauss Law.)
The coulomb could in principle be defined in terms of the charge of an
electron or elementary charge. Since the values of the Josephson (CIPM
(1988) Recommendation 1, PV 56; 19) and von Klitzing (CIPM (1988),
Recommendation 2, PV 56; 20) constants have been given conventional
values (KJ = 4.835 979×1014 Hz/V and RK = 2.581 280 7×104 O), it
is possible to combine these values to form an alternative (not yet
official) definition of the coulomb. A coulomb is then equal to exactly
6.241 509 629 152 65×1018 elementary charges. Combined with the
current definition of the ampere, this proposed definition would make
the kilogram a derived unit.

As a matter of fact I do.
I suggest you take a course in it so you can read for comprehension.
You seem to have a reading disability.

|
| I will keep it simple so you don't get confused.
|
| F = q1 * q2 / (4 * pi * e0 * r^2)
|
| where,
|
| F is the force,
| q1 and q2 are charges,
| e0 is the electric constant,
| r^2 is the distance between the charges.
|
| Do you see any mass there?
Sure. In SI units, eps0 ~= 8.85E-12 (seconds^4 amp^2)/(kilogram
meter^3). A farad is coul^2/joule or (A s)^2(s^2/(kg m^2)).

You must be joking Fred.
Do you really think that empty space has mass?
The reason that eps0 has mass in its units is because mu0 is 4 * pi *
10^-7 kg m C^-2.
So what does 1*10^-7 kg m C^-2 reperesent? |

If the kilogram is derived from the Coulomb, then how can the Coulomb
contain mass? |

And the ultimate irony here is that if the photon had a mass, the
Coulomb force would look much different. But I hate to interrupt by
throwing in some real physics... |

Hopeless thread. You remind me of the guy who was beating his head
against the wall and when asked why he was doing it, said "Because it
feels so good when I stop."

Only, this one doesn't know the concept of pain.
When asked why he is doing it, he'll tell you that it is
the only way to get attention.

all the rest - to the right side .
see it again in my proof of the nonzero rest mass of the photon

What's the mass of the vacuum then?
The only thing you can give lessons in is stupidity, and I wouldn't
take lessons from you if you paid me. |
