Subject: Topics in Warp Drive Zero Point Metric Engineering
From Birrell & Davis Quantum fields in curved space citing DeWitt et-al
First of all the w = -1 for ZPE in cosmology assumes isotropy of course,
i.e. no Casimir boundary effects. The ZPF stress tensor diagonal in that
case
1 -1 -1 -1 = 1 + 3w
w = -1
For parallel plates
1 -1 -1 +3 = 1 + 3w
w = +1/3
However for a wedge between 2 inclined plates
1 -1 +3 -1 = 1 + 3w
again w = + 1/3
However, the mean w above is not directly useful in the anisotropic
situations where the boundaries break the rotational symmetry.
In the case of the wedge the t(zpf)rr & t(zpf)zz components are the
negative of the t(zpf)00 (energy density) component analogous to the
isotropic no boundary case. Here cylindrical polar coordinates (r,z,
theta) are used for the spacelike part of the stress tensor. "r" is
distance from axis of intesection of the 2 planes forming the wedge, z
is the distance between the wedges at r, rdtheta is in the direction
perpendicular to the r-z plane. So it is the t(zpf)theta,theta that is
"opposite" +3 (I think)?
