Random sampling

Dear colleagues,
I'm trying to select samples from a normal distribution (with
parameters mu, sigma), belonging to a certain "alphabet". For
instance, we have the normal N(0,1), but we want the outcome to
belong in the set [0,1,...,N].
Do you know how to do this? (I think that the functions randn,
normrnd are not appopriate by themselves)
