Help Finding Lab Supply: Fussy about Bench Paper
|
|
|
Hi,
I'm looking for some bench paper that I've used in other labs in the
past. Unfortunately, I have no idea where they purchased it or what it
was called. Googling for it has turned up nothing so far.
It is just white paper (contains no plastic) and is woven through with
white thread. It comes in long rolls.
Do you know where I can find this stuff?
Thanks,
Peg |

Ask your lab supplier about "bench liners" or "bench protectors", and
see what they offer you.
Better (?), ask the lab where you saw it. Maybe it not sold as "lab
supply".

Hi Bob,
Thanks for replying. Makes me feel like at least one person is out
there.
I will contact my old lab if I have to. I just hate bothering them for
something so trivial as bench paper.
My supplier has only offered me paper with the plastic backing, which I
don't want.
The collective power of the internet should be able to find it, right?
:0)

Since the trend (certainly in chemistry labs here) is away from using open
benches to "all work in fume cupboards", I would guess that the need for
such an item has severly diminished. I suspect your supplier has offered
you "Benchcote", which is what we would typically use in a QC lab, on the
titration benches. What I have used in the past is filter paper (big ones
24" x 24" square!)

Hi Ron,
You're right, we do hardly anything on the open bench except write in
our lab books! This is especially important since I'm working with
dioxins.
The bench paper I'm after was tested for backgroung dioxins by soxhlet
extraction so I know it wouldn't contaminate my samples. I like to
paper my fume hoods because I build several extraction columns by hand
which can get messy.
I've decided to break down and bother my former co-workers for a
catalogue number and supplier. I'll post the results if I get any just
in case there's someone out there looking for a similar product.
