I want to find a confirmation reference by Karl Friedrich Gauss one of
the greatest mathematicians of all time where he seized upon "THE
ENIGMA OF ASYMPTOTIC INFINITY" the fundamental asymptotic
mathematical function describing receding or approaching infinity never
contacting it. He understood this basic fundamental of modern calculus
all his adult life only to confront the subtle reality to be, "a
diabolically tantalizing fact" affecting all existence not just an
abstract concept.
Can anyone direct me to his actual observation and the relative
circumstances prompting its pronouncement? |
