Effects of Paint on a Heat Sink

Morning All,
I'm working on calculating the the thermal effects of painting an
aluminum heat sink. Anyone have any suggestions on where I can find
any of the following:
- literature or website about the effects of paint on heat sinks
- a listing of the thermal conductivity of any paint
Any suggestions?

My question for you is why would you want to paint a heat sink?
Most polymers are good insulators, as are the majority of pigments used
in paints. Painting the heat sink would just put an insulating layer on
it and reduce the heat transfer rate. |

Anodising with a black dye instead?

For a forced air cooling system that would certainly be true. But a
passive radiating heatsink would be cooler if covered in a thin coat of
paint instead of bare metal (a lousy radiator of IR).

Have you considered black anodization to improve radiation without |
adding a painted coating?
