How many ways can W objects be assigned to Dtotal + Atotal objects where the number of W objects are assigned to D? Example : What are the number of ways that five candy bars can be given to a group of twenty-seven girls and thirteen boys where exactly three candy bars are assigned to any three boys?

I have solved my own problem. I think that it is COMB(Dtotal,D)*COMB(Atotal,W-D)
and SUM(D=0 to W ,COMB(Dtotal,D)*COMB(Atotal,W-D))= COMB(Dtotal + Atotal ,W).

Does this hold for fractional values of Dtotal, Atotal W, and D?
