Reference About A Problem

Hey, a group of my friend are going to do a project about some
geometrical problem, and I am asked to help them find some references
on the problem. But I fail to do so after searching for some time, so
can you help me?
Their problem goes like this. Given an arbitary (convex) polygon with
area A, we draw circles using the sides of the polygon as diameter.
Then what is the area of the region enclosed by the circular arcs
joining the intersection points of these circles? Moreover, if we join
the intersection points by straight line segments and form a new
polygon, what is the area of this new polygon?
Could anyone help me find some relevant materials about the problem?
Thanks very much!!!
