Art Ludwig is a seasoned, highly credentialed and highly respected
scientist, mathematician and engineer. If anyone has any doubt about his
mathematical prowess, they should take a look at his website
http://www.silcom.com/~aludwig/

On the other hand, Bob Cain is an arrogant, narcissistic, self-appointed
authority on everything, and expert on nothing Bob Cain's only claim to
fame is his prolific record of newsgroup posts, which tend to be
technically incorrect, more often than not.

During the past five years, Bob Cain has been on a persistent and
relentless campagn of posting defamatory comments about me on the internet.
The fact that he continues to bestow me with his defamatory hominem attacks
should be of no surprise to anyone.

While one may have thought that Bob Cain had long ago hit rock bottom on
the ethics/morality scale, Bob Cain has proven that not to be the case, as
is evidenced by his recent post of 5/24/2006 (copied/pasted verbatim
below), in which he arrogantly refers to Art Ludwig's math as "a hash job
with no merit."

I do not claim here to have done anything.

"I have" obviously means something to Sokolich different from what is
commonly meant by it. He will provide a link to what he has done to
show what assumption I have made and how it violates anything.

Quote:
The analysis of Frequency Modulation Distortion (aka Doppler distortion)
in
loudspeakers was done by Beers & Belar in 1943. The analysis of Doppler
distortion produced by a piston in a tube was done by Art Ludwig and is
published on his website.

It is a hash job with no merit. From the quality of it I believe Gary
Sokolich wrote it as well as the crap he quoted. Sokolich has a
history of impersonation that is well known.

Quote:
Unlike you, I have no interest in either
reinventing the wheel or challenging reputable authorities on the subject
matter.

Dokolich does not have the ability or he would have used it counter or
refute the technical result I arrived at. To prove otherwise he will
post his own analysis to show that he understands the problem and its
solution.

Quote:
That is why I was right and why you were wrong on every aspect of
the Doppler distortion debate.

Sokolich said nothing that he could be objectively right or wrong
about. He is very careful about that in everything he writes.

(He seems to have slipped and tripped himself up recently, however, by
stating unequivocally that tube amps with transformer outputs have no
problems with open circuit loads.)

It is not necessary to provide any solutions to any partial
differential equations to analyze this problem other than the standard
solution to the acoustic plane wave. That Sokolich claims otherwise
demonstrates either obfuscation or ignorance.

This is all I have to say on the subject (this time 'round) until and
unless he puts some meat on the bones of his contentions.

which is not the same as not having a dispute with Bob or me or anyone
about digital signal processing. it's just that if you lock horns with
him or anyone else somewhere else and, after the fact, drag it here
when it isn't even the newsgroup topic, then it's just sorta a little
turd that you're forcing everyone to look at and step over lest we get
it stuck on the tread of our shoes.

Amen!

But since we're OT, are you still up in Manchester?

it's Burlington (VT). "Manchester" is either a an ultra-quaint nice
like epitome of the small New England town in Vermont or a larger,
somewhat post-industrial, town in New Hampshire that i used to drive
through on the way to Boston.

Sorry, but I thought that you and the rest of Bob Cain's admirers in
comp.dsp would be interested in Bob Cain's assessment of Art Ludwig's math.
After all dsp is all math, and, unlike Bob Cain, Art Ludwig is a seasoned
professional engineer and mathematician.

I would have also thought that by now you and everyone else in comp.dsp
would have me in your killfiles. After all, it's not as if I am posting
anonymously.

Nonetheless, I thank you for reading and calling further attention to my
post, rather than simply ignoring it.

Then why in the f*** are you posting in rec.audio.pro?!? I'm not the
only one that's sick of sifting through all of the off-topic bullshit
that's ruining the signal to noise ratio of the group.

Sorry, I was having as "senior moment". Seems to occur with
increasing frequency. Now, if I could just remember where I left
my drool cup...

have the same degree of excuse for it. i'll probably be senile when
i'm your age, Ken.

I'm sorry that you are offended by my post. Bob Cain is a regular
pontificator of technical ignorance in this newsgroup, and I thought that
you as well as other readers here would appreciate my calling attention to
Bob Cain's lack of credibility and his lies about Art Ludwig, who is a well
recongized, seasoned professional engineer and mathetician.

Between Cain and Morein, this group is rapidly being "Bobo'ed". Usenet
groups are "Bobo'ed" by Bobo Morein, who arrives in a new group trolling and
annoying the group until it self-destructs.

He's now doing to to the pro audio groups, like he's done to film groups,
hobbiest audio groups, solar energy, and many others.

We're being "bobo'ed". Don't forget it.

Perhaps you would be better served by directing your displeasure directly
