The backgound to this question: Should I charge an electric bike (35AH,
24V pack) with a 15A Samlex intelligent, 3-mode, battery charger if I
discharge it only 10 percent? The charger has an equalization mode. I
am concerned that the Samlex battery charger could be "cooking" the
battery every time I use it.

The batteries are Sonnenschien (now Exide) equivalent to the old A500
Sonnenschein gel cell batteries, I'm told (but cannot confirm.)

I used to have CSB 36AH Group U1 batteries there, but the pack's
capacity seems to have diminished rapidly (4 years old -- mostly
charged at 6A using a Soneil charger.)

The Samlex battery charger (there may be online reviews) has DIP
switches, and I've set them for "gel" type charging cycle.

My question is whether I should wait for a higher Depth of Discharge
(say 30%) before charging these Sonnenschein/Exide batteries.

Thanks for all suggestions and info.
