Hello curious people,
I am now puzzled by the dissymmetry between the role of voltage
and current. Theoritically, P=IV, whether 10V of 1A and 10A of 1V
contain the identical amount of electrical energy. However, in daily
life the electrical appliance could remain functional when face a
voltage below what is required. But when the electrical current is
below the required value, even a high voltage would not make the
electrical appliance functional.
From the standpoint of energy conservation, the amount of
electrical energy required to perform a task is identical. Why current
make a greater difference than voltage? It is odd given Voltage has
more to do with energy content than current.
So my hypothesis here is: Current requirement by electrical
appliance is like the resonant frequency of a oscillating object, only
when the input current(frequency) is right then energy transfer could
take place. Regardless of the actual energy content, it is the
'frequency' of the electrical energy matter. When there is a match
between two frequencies, electrical energy transfer is then perfect,
when there is a mismatch between them, electrical energy can hardly
transferring from one object to another.
Related to this thought is the idea of a quanta. Does this mean
those electrical circuit in the electrical appliance take only
specific quanta(amount) of electrical energy? Much like photoelectric
take place in certain wavelength? For instance, this circuit take only
quanta of 5J, and when we feed that with 10J a quanta it would not
accept as valid input.
Another thought is reversing the relationship between resonant
frequency and quanta. Does quanta exist due to the phenomena of
resonant frequency? Or resonant frequency a manifest of the quanta
phenomena?
Hidden in this speculation is a thought that there exist cases
which the load change the overall energy content. i.e. The demand
don't just adjust the supply, the demand adjust the total energy
content according to its own parameters. It is to say, the amount of
energy is not a fixed number.
A lot of speculation, very little answer.

lets start with the right terminology... they don't contain 'energy', they

represent the same 'power' being conducted. energy requires you integrate
over some time interval.

you need another equation... E=IR
study this one and then figure out the relation ship of why current and
voltage and the type of load are all required to match up for power to be
transfered and work to be done.

you can combine the two equations to get things like
P=I^2R and P=E^2/R
if that helps you visualize the problem better.

and to comment on your later conclusions that are blown away by the above,
neither voltage nor current is 'more important' than the other, they are
constrained by the relationships above.

note, these relationships get much uglier if you start talking about
capacitive and inductive loads with alternating or other variable currents
and voltages... understand these first and it will help later if you
continue to try to understand time varying circuits.
