Subject description: Binomial Random Variable Problem

I have the following homework problems and need help please.
PROBLEM:
Let X be a binomial random variable with parameters N=8 and p=0.4 and let Y be a continuous uniform random variable defined on the interval (0,4). Furthermore, X and Y are independent.
a. Calculate the mean and variance of X
b. Calculate the mean and variance of Y
c. Compute the probability that X is greater than the mean of Y
PROBLEM:
Define the random variable Z=2X - Y
d. Calculate the range of values for Z. That is, determine a and b such that "a<=Z<=b"
e. Calculate the mean and variance of Z |
