The thistle tube poster boy for chemistry. Other than High School Chem. ....

And say ... who was "Thistle" they whom da tube was named?

Trivia too - two - Like the second man to walk on the moon .... no one remembers
the co-inventor of the Soxhlet extractor - he be?

Do you believe that the sciences would ever had
arisen and became great if there had not beforehand
been magicians, alchemists, astrologers and WiZards,
who thirsted and hungered after abscondite and
forbidden powers?

The tube looks like a thistle plant.

Actually yes ... though there are several ASTM Procedures requiring it
.... we use it for some experimental work where we bubble air into a
solution in a flask ...
Either that or just a long stem funnel ... (we also add acid through it
periodically otherwise a glass tube would suffice ...

I thought it was because it looked like the thistle plant .. The
inventor was actually Thattle ... full name Thattle B. DeDay
